ABC

- other than initial letters, capitals mark a word or passage which cannot be understood

restored letters omitted by the scribe, expansion of abbreviation or resolution of an anagram (e.g. Hamble) or resolved symbol (Pagans Hill 7); (?abc) letters restored with some uncertainty (Brit. 91)
